National Coach of the Year - Ty Halford

National Coach of the Year Named at Clear Creek High School

Ty Halford, head water polo coach at Clear Creek High School, has been named the 2024-2025 National Boys Water Polo Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). In eight years leading the Wildcats, Halford compiled a 109-15-3 record, won back-to-back Class 6A state championships, and earned recognition from the Texas High School Coaches Association and Texas Farm Bureau Insurance — a true testament to his dedication to student athletes and the Clear Creek community.

Clear Creek ISD & Dickinson ISD Educators Named 2026 Region 4 Teachers of the Year

Vickie Wright of McWhirter Elementary (Clear Creek ISD) and Ashley Anderson of Dickinson Continuation Center (Dickinson ISD) have been named the 2026 Region 4 Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA). Selected from a pool of finalists spanning 47 public school districts and 43 charter schools across the Houston area, both educators will now represent the region at the state level — where one will be named Texas Teacher of the Year and advance to the National competition.

A National Board-Certified educator with 14 years of experience, Wright now advances to the National Teacher of the Year program — whose winner is announced by the President of the United States. Inspired by her great-grandmother who believed in her potential, Wright is devoted to building up every student and fostering supportive, empowering environments in every classroom.
