The Port of Galveston broke ground Thursday on a $220 million cruise terminal expansion that will make it the largest cruise homeport on the Gulf Coast. The new Terminal 3 will accommodate next-generation mega-ships carrying up to 7,000 passengers and is expected to open in 2029, adding an estimated $180 million annually to the local economy.
