Galveston Island State Park Reopens After $8M Renovation; New Cabins and Kayak Launch Added

Galveston Island State Park reopened Thursday after a six-month, $8 million renovation that added 12 new waterfront cabins, a kayak and paddleboard launch on the bay side, an expanded nature center, and a new 2-mile hiking trail through the park's coastal prairie habitat. Texas Parks and Wildlife expects the improvements to increase annual visitation from 180,000 to 250,000.
