Galveston County Sheriff's deputies arrested three individuals Thursday after intercepting a boat carrying 14 undocumented migrants near the Texas City Dike. The suspects, two of whom are U.S. citizens, face federal human smuggling charges. The migrants were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol custody. Sheriff Henry Trochesset said the county has seen a 40% increase in maritime smuggling attempts this year.
