Galveston ISD Superintendent Announces Retirement After 12 Years; National Search Underway

Galveston ISD Superintendent Sheryl Sergi announced Thursday she will retire at the end of the school year after 12 years leading the district, during which time she oversaw the construction of three new schools, a significant expansion of dual language programs, and the district's recovery from Hurricane Harvey. The school board has hired a national search firm to find her replacement.
