Galveston County Commissioners Court approved a $14 million new Emergency Operations Center Thursday, replacing the outdated 1980s facility that lacks the technology and space to manage modern large-scale disasters. The new EOC will feature a 50-station operations floor, redundant communications systems, backup power, and a public information center. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026.
