TEXAS CITY — In an effort to reduce catalytic converter thefts and protect vehicle owners, the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force has partnered with the Texas City Police Department to provide free catalytic converter etching services for residents.
Catalytic converters, a crucial component of a vehicle's emission and exhaust system, have become a prime target for thieves due to the valuable metals they contain. Thieves often cut these parts from vehicles, leading to costly repairs for owners and increased insurance premiums.
Etching your catalytic converter with a unique vehicle identification number significantly reduces its resale value. This event will be held on Friday, June 5th, 2026 from 8am to Close at SABA Motors, 3225 Magnolia Avenue, Texas City, Texas 77590.
